Beginners / Re: need help understanding UEnv.txt and its content....

Everyone working with the kernel should start with the existing docs.  See https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/kernel-parameters.txt. The git source tree includes this and many other files with tons of useful info. You should put a link to this in the wiki.

There are sunxi specific settings and driver settings as well that aren't documented in the standard doc files that need to be in the wiki as well.

The nand uboot  is based on the aw android uboot  which relies on boot.axf to read the dram settings from script.bin.

jackd in the Debian distro is broken and will crash with a bus error. This requires an update in the Debian distro and that hasn't happened. You have to go to the JackAudio site, download a version and compile and install it yourself. Note that you have to leave jackd from the distro installed - if you try to remove it you also have to take out mplayer, vlc, etc, etc. So you also need to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to where you installed your own jackd, or you will get many complaints as your jackd tried to find things in the distro's libraries.

Even then, you hit problems with things like jack-rack as /dev/snd/alsa-seq doesn't exist. Haven't found out what to do about that yet.

Have you tried the cubiuntu distros? Nor this one, as it's getting out of date, but .888?

Can't really tell where it booted from, since you have mmcbkl0p2 mounting on / in your /etc/fstab. But if you left the SD card in the board, it won't boot from nand.

Just to be clear, which uboot branch did you build?

I'm using pat-cb2-ct

That branch is based on the u-boot-sunxi sunxi branch, which doesn't support nand.  Try lichee-dev-a20.

One other thing: sadly, the forum doesn't allow direct anonymous downloads via wget. That makes upgrading the kernel on a running cubietruck more complicated as I can't simply download it directly to the cubie, but need to use a temporary location.

curl works on dl.cubieforums.com

Very cool release.  Thanks!

A quick note:  in rc.local, /bin/mount/ should be /bin/mount and cubietruck was removed from extraargs in uEnv.ct.

cubietruck is on the second line I think...

Yeah, but here's the thing: the second line starts a new env setting, so cubietruck doesn't get added to extraargs. You can confirm this with

cat /proc/cmdline

Orrrr its sick....

it seems i can flash "lubuntu-desktop-nand.img"

but NOT "Cubiuntu_CT_0.777_NAND_155dcf3a53bcf66e83780ac2b76d030d.img"

Livesuite tell me "image file invalid"

Where is the difference?!?!?

I thought all images are packed by the same way and standard?!

Well, they're not.  The nand images ikeeki uploaded are "mirror" images -- exact copies of the nand block device. They are not meant for livesuit.  Livesuit images are compilations -- they contain multiple partitions packed with metadata and init code that's run on the first boot.

The uboots I've uploaded all use root= to set the rootfs.

Nah. Where did the uboot  come from?  Some of them want nand_root=/dev/sda1.

Hi patwood! Can't you help me about using your u-boot?
Have compiled it successfully with 'cubietruck' traget and copied into /linux dir on nand1. What's next? What files I need to edit/add to make your u-boot working?

Just to be clear, which uboot branch did you build?
