Images updated to kernel 4.19.y

General Discussion / Re: Cubietruck Plus: Compile mainline kernel
« on: September 19, 2018, 02:37:34 pm »

Major update:

apt update & apt upgrade

In case someone needs a modern kernel based image. I don't have this board, but it was confirmed working. We don't have the plan to support this board. It comes as is.

and i have no idea how to upgrade kernel to 3.8+ right now!

Even Ubuntu 18.04 with kernel 4.17.y is possible :) Recommended install is Debian Stretch with 4.14.y ... Docker is supported on all Armbian builds, where the kernel is recent enough.

How does Armbian based on Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic looks like? The same as Xenial, Jessie or Stretch :) How does it function? As fast as possible. Can I build my own image? Yes, you can. Since board is officially EOL you need to use switch EXPERT="yes" when building an image.

More info and download links:

hello, I've been using your image on the cubietruck for a while, and updated it to Debian Stretch 9.3 today, but the kernel has not been updated and is still 3.4.104-sunxi, how can I upgrade the kernel to a current version 4. Update X? Thank you

You need to update kernel separately. First, remove all packages and install new, here are the names:

Since you are upgrading from a very old build, prepare for the worst case. And remember that NAND is not supported under modern kernel. Also Debian Stretch is not working properly on the old kernel.

v5.32 / 23.06.2017

bugfix release due to broken crypto functions on kernel 4.11.x

v5.30 / 14.06.2017

- mainline kernel updated to 4.11
- mainline u-boot updated to v2017.05
- Firefox was replaced with Chromium (desktop images)
- sunxi mainline configuration: added Device Tree overlays support (new images only)
- sunxi mainline configuration: added armbian-add-overlay helper for compiling and activating DT overlays (new images only)
- log2ram: fixed saving /var/log contents on shutdown
- new hardware support (stable/supported images): Xunlong Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 (H3), ASUS TinkerBoard, MiQi
- reworked package updates MOTD script to speed up the login process
- added config file /etc/default/armbian-motd for disabling MOTD components
- added armbian-config dialog-based configuration program (WIP)
- Banana Pi M2: fixed HDMI video output
- Clearfog: adjusted temperature readout
- i.MX6 mainline: enabled support for HDMI audio and PCIe bus

I tried to 3.4.112 and 4.7.3 kernel.

It is with another Cubietruck
It all works.
Can you give a link to this build?

This must be something related to firmware ... I am out of office so can't check atm, but try upgrading 4.7.3 to latest via repository

try exchanging firmware packages:

apt-get install armbian-firmware

apt-get install armbian-firmware-full
try again

I can't force to work with WIFI.
I have an error:
Code: [Select]
/sbin/wpa_supplicant daemon failed to start run-parts: /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/wpasupplicant
exited with return code 1
Failed to bring up wlan0.
Type armbianmonitor -u to see some logs.

This looks like you still boot from nand ... there is something wrong with system on sd or with sd card or writing to it.

This will probably be too slow, try some USB adapter.
