Hello. I've problem with libvdpau. mpv plays video thru vdpau backend but video is slowet then it should be. Can anyone had similar issue?

Ok. mpv failing back to software decoding with this error in terminal:
[ffmpeg/video] h264: decode_slice_header error
[ffmpeg/video] h264: no frame!
Error while decoding frame!
Error using hardware decoding, falling back to software decoding.
Do You use proper UART baudrate?
From what media You're booting. Changes in the kernel can slightly lower boot time, but it depends on many other things. You can disable some unneeded system daemons, change filesystem on rootfs, etc. Maybe You can do proper alignment partitions on Your boot media to faster reads from. Show Your /etc/hosts:cat /etc/hostsIt may slow down start of Xorg. Show:cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freqandcat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freqandcat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
Cubieboard v2 OS (A20 Based) / Re: os readonly ?

Show:dmesg  | grep mmcblk0p1
Thru SPI interface like to arduino, but probably You must write software to use it.
Do not change compiler flags when building kernel. How do You build additional module?
Ok. I reply to me. It looks like CPU is burned. There is short circuit between Allwinner A10 DLLVDD pins and ground. CPU was on 1,08GHz not overclocked on performance governor, but died under high load (overtemperature?). Be warned and use some heatsink for it. I'm thinking if I should buy Allwinner A20 and try to replace CPU. Have someone done this self? Because prices for change BGA in local services are to high (for that price I'll buy new CB2).

You cannot use unetbootin because it will put on SD i386/AMD64 bootloader.
Hello. Sorry for spamming in English.

The new r4p0 and r5p0 kernel driver for Mali400 doesn't need binary ump library. Older versions need this binary blob. But for us the problem may persist with binary EGL user-land libraries. I don't found them in sources from ARM, and don't know if old libs will work (cannot complete crosscompilation of new driver outside sunxi sources).
Yes. I saw this and bayed one because my CB1 CPU dead, and this was cheaper even CB2, but have wifi and 2 more USB ports. I'm waiting for shipment to try it out.

I want to share with my project. It is Debian Wheezy image with XFCE desktop (You can use any  of working distros on Cubieboard A10 after some modifications) running from RO root filesystem on nand. It uses patched linux-sunxi sources with AUFS support (needed).
Benefits of using this type of images:

  • very fast booting from nand

  • very fast working

  • it uses half of the normal disk space

To try just download this image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1eyXhYZKHdUTHdIRjJwS3VVQWM/view?usp=sharing
md5sum for nand.img.gz: b48a45f651fb3802aac80ac8a8320db0
Installation on cubieboard nand (You have to run any linux from sdcard or sata disk):
Make sure You have proper copy of Your nand!!
On Cubieboard:
  • Unpack image from archive

tar zxf nand.img.tar.gz
  • And install it on nand:

dd if=nand.img of=/dev/nand bs=64k
Or if You want You can do this over ssh session:
  • First unpack image on Your computer same as above

  • Then do:

dd if=nand.img bs=64k | ssh root@[cubie_address] dd of=/dev/nand
Wait some time and reboot cubie without sdcard.
Default passwords: root - toor
cubie - cubie

For now You cannot (as easy as in other cubie distros) install additional apps, change passwords, add users etc. but in near future it'll be possible. Only home folder is writable.
It uses my custom initramfs (for now only crosscompilation is allowed and only for Cubieboard A10):
It's in early stage but I'll develop it. Patched linux-sunxi sources are on my github:
Included in example image:
  • linux-sunxi kernel 3.4.103

  • full XFCE desktop with mali binary drivers and fbturbo driver

  • midori browser

  • networkmanager

  • smplayer with smtube but it lacks HW Video acceleration (libvdppau-sunxi preinstalled but mplayer2 from wheezy repository have no vdpau driver compiled in)

  • output on uart for debugging (and rescue shell in initramfs)

If You like I can share instructions how to modify other Cubieboard images to work like this.
Try it and share Your opinion.  Any feedback very appreciated.

I've been compiling mplayer2 on Cubieboard and after some time terminal with ssh freezed (cubie obviously hanged). I've plugged of power connector and plugged back but only red led with leds in ethernet connector blinked and cubie not started. I've changed power source and even try to power cubie thru otg port but it's all the same. Have someone similar problem and know how to resolve it?

Thanks for replay and sorry for my English.
Software & Applications / libvdpau-sunxi

Does libvdpau-sunxi need libhybris and binary drivers from android. I cannot use vdpau driver is mplayer2, and I don't know why it's not working.
Does anyone tried them on Cubieboard? I cannot find changelog to find out what was changed. For now I've crosscompiled mali.ko (didn't try it), and trying to get mali_drm to compile, but the problem is with drmP.h. Later I'll try to compile it natively on Cubieboard. This version of mali driver doesn't use ump. I wonder if we have to use properitary blob for GLES/EGL wih this drivers.
