I have a cubieboard 2, with a cubian running on it. Every time when i disconnect the lan cable and reconnect it to other device (router/switch), the receiving bandwidth of cubieboard falls to 3 mbit/sec, while the transmit remains at ~90 mbit/sec. If i restart the cubie, the receiving speed is normalized, until the next reconnect.
Why is this happen? Can i fix this without restarting the cubie each time?

I would like to use my cubie2 as a media renderer(only for music) controlled from my phone, so i don't need fancy GUI, but a headless lightweight renderer. I've tried the playbin plugin of rygel but doesn't showed up on any device. Any tips?

I'm currently using Minidlna as upnp/dlna server on my cubieboard2. It's fast(the indexing of the files are fast too), it supports seeking, lightweight and stable. However it have a big and annoying bug: it sorts the music by the "title" ID3 tag alphabetic order by default, and not by track number or the filename, and this can't be changed.

I've tried Mediatomb too, that gives a little more control, but doesn't support seeking in media files, so it's not an option.

Tried Serviio too, it knows everything, but painfully slow( 12 times slower indexing speed than minidlna), and likes to stop indexing music files, freeze then use 100% cpu until killed (not just on cubieboard).

Any suggestions?
Software & Applications / Bittorrent sync on Cubieboard2
September 30, 2013, 02:32:05 pm
Bittorrent sync have an ARM version, however it not works for me, i get btsync: 1: btsync: Syntax error: word unexpected (expecting ")") error.

Do anyone tried this?

Edit: According to the support, the A20 cpu is not supported by this application... then why do they advertise it as ARM compatible, if it's compatible only with few ARM cpu-s.
How can i switch the leds on and off? The blue flashing led is very annoying and strong at night.
General Discussion / OpenJDK/JRE 7 problems on cubiuntu
September 14, 2013, 09:16:20 am

I've facing a big problem on A20 cubiuntu: I have a java application that needs java 7, so i've removed the default installed openjdk6 and installed openjre7 with apt-get. My application works, except if it tries to connect to an SSL service as client (gmail smtp), then i get an exception at SSL connection: java.security.InvalidAlgorithmParameterException: the trustAnchors parameter must be non-empty

On other platforms (x86 windows with oracle jre7, and x86 linux with OpenJdk7) there is no problem. I've googled this problem and i've found some incomplete tips, for those who are know what are these "keystores" "cacert" or things like this. Don't i don't. I've tried to generate that keystore something with keytool ,but still the same problem. I've read that these cacert things are installed with the JRE, so i've searched for it, and i've found an unopenable (even with sudo) cacert file at /usr/lib/jvm/java 1.7 armhf(or something like this)/jre/security

Same happens with the default installed jre6 without any modification...

Solved by using oracle jre...

I have a small standalone java servlet which gets http messages, then it changes a small database file which is placed in the public folder of a Dropbox directory, which uploads it to cloud as it changes, and with a single public link this database file is reachable for anyone, and the link doesn't changing as the file is updated.

I know a normal database would be better, but not a coincidence that i use method like this: i don't have access to a 24/7 server, and it's simple.

What i need is this: a cloud storage that have public storage, and the share links for a file are fixed, and doesn't change as the file changes, and have synchronizing daemon client for ARM linux.
I want to update my cubieboard 2 android, but I don't have mini usb cable, phoenix card not works with any livesuit images, but the debian 7.1 on SD card mounts the NAND partitions. Is it possible to write the livesuit image on nand by debian?
General Discussion / Nothing works for cubieboard2?
July 20, 2013, 11:11:18 am
I've got my cubieboard 2 weeks ago, and i'm really disappointed.
The default andoid is not complete (for example the display resolution setting is missing), there are no any really 100% working SD card images yet, no working GPU(driver problems), and i can't do anything with it, as i can't even install a NAND image.
As mini usb cable is a real rarity today(and by a "clever" choice cubie 2 have (mini usb otg port, micro usb would be too easy as everyone have at least one because of the smartphones...)), i don't have such cable, even i can't buy one in the near supermarket, as none selling mini usb anymore, just micro usb.
So i've tried to use phoenixcard, and of course it not works (writes "script not found, use newer image" for all cubie2 nand images.

Now i've noticed for some reason the preinstalled android isn't works too anymore, it boots i see the android loading text with the animation, but never goes further.

What can i do?
Beginners / Cubieboard 2 android resolution setting
July 04, 2013, 02:43:47 pm

My cubieboard 2 just arrived, but i have a problem with it. I use a hdmi -> vga converter, and a 1280*1024 monitor with vga input: and the default android screens is stretched and 20% of the android screen is out of the monitor's screen.
From this disadvantage, i've managed to set the language from chineese to a better one, and i could log in with my google account on play, but i couldn't find any app to change screen resolution, just useless junks. Nor could i find resolution setting in android settings, just that that the current resolution is set to 1280*720.

What can i do? Note that the left side of the screen is off limits, so console hacking would be very hard :)
