I'm interested in wearable device (or smartphone) with minimal Linux system inside (kernel, libc, libSDL, and some wireless interface to main android phone) for organizer functions: todo list with reminders, clock.

What device do you recomend to use as hw platform ?

Does any plans for cubiewatch ? Something like Pebble Watch with minimal wearable OS not overloaded by JavaVM, JavaScript, VM, decorators, .xml ...  -- linux kernel, microusb host, some wireless and C++ native-only SDK ?
And b/w eink screen -- for free use on direct sun lighting.

General Discussion / Does Cubie Watch in plans ?
« on: April 27, 2015, 05:13:37 am »
I'm dreaming of cheap AllWinner-based wearable CubieWatch with WiFi, miniUSB-host (for external devices connection, SoundCard, diy hardware and so on directly of via active usb hub) and light embedded Linux build. e-ink b/w display is preferrable (must have good visibility on sun shine). Some GPIO pins under back cover will be good too.

Do you have any plans on this way ?

Is anybody faced with the problems:
1) new CB1 not starts with stock firmware in NAND, and
2) fel tools from git/sunxi-tools hangs on flash reading in FEL mode ?

Cubieboard v1 OS (A10 Based) / uboot DRAM size on Cubie v.1 512M
« on: October 24, 2014, 07:47:18 am »
Have strange DRAM size detection on CB1 with 2x GT8UB256W DDR chips:

spl & uboot from original nand detects 1GiB, but board has only 512MiBs

Gaming / CoubieBoard as game console platform
« on: October 12, 2014, 10:23:19 am »
Who is interested to take part in CB gamification as open gaming console platform ?

Now I have tiny Linux system build for x86 with basic gamedev capabilities (libSDL),
and have plans to rebuild it for CB1 (I'm waiting on HDMI->RCA converter and car 4" monitor).

It have not opengl (is it possble to get hw-helped opengles on A10 or maybe on futured A80 board ?), but CB1/CB2 have enought power for old-style 2D and silly 3D gamedev.

PS: main target is home linux-powered wall clock still in mind

Accessories / CoubieReader / CoubieTablet (with GPIO connector) ?

Does anybody want tablet-like CB (fully user reprogrammable and large GPIO/HDMI/VGA/USB  outside) ? I want

Accessories / Does Comodore64-like formfactor can be popular for CB ?
« on: June 27, 2014, 05:38:39 am »
Does this formfactor can be popular ? :)

with CB2+ inside, HDD, power source, USB hub, HDMI, VGA DSUB, cardreader panel,
and mechanical mount plug on top of case for optional LCD panel

Or maybe something like this:
It's USSR Electronika MC 1504 notebook (1991)

Accessories / Dual CAN bus interface for CB1
« on: June 27, 2014, 05:08:53 am »
Which CAN interface can I use for CB1 (dual channel required for control system reliability)

Accessories / eInk display for CB1 (3"+) with or without touch
« on: June 27, 2014, 05:06:30 am »
Does somebody have any suggests on cheap eInk display which can be easily connected to CB1 ?

Other / Need 3D models (STEP/IGEG) of coubieboards
« on: May 30, 2014, 12:44:54 am »
Is 3D models in STEP/IGES formats available ?

Need model for CADding coubie modding (VESA mount bracket,
wall-mount bracket, power source & LED mounts, heatsinks).

Coubie.v1 on-mail now, but I have no measuring machine for fast rev.engeneering

Coppers not needed, only board outline, mount holes, ICs (with height preferrably)
and IDC pin arrays

I'm searching on cheap hw ARM9/11 platform (with large GPIO 16+ pins - it's critical)
for learning of bare metal and embedded linux development:
- no android
- no ready-to-use linux build from supplier
I need complete dev.cycle -- building of u-boot, linux kernel, uclibc and target application software

preffered hw suppor in generic kernel, kernel patches from supplier gives some hemorr -- old kernel versions, breakings in minor kernel version updates

preferred kernel 3.13+ (i have homebrewed buildkit for x86, need to port it on arm)

does AllWinner A10/A20 supports BOOT0 firmware update mode via (FF?)UART
without using JTAG ?

does CoubieBoard have open-source bootloader firmware ?

I'm working on firmware for device like digital photo frame:
something like wall mount computer, maximally cheap
(something like 7" VIA8550 tablets on Ali with price not more $80)

functions: wall alarm clock, weather, background using
webcam shots from internet updating every minute and more,
mail biff, maybe VideoIPphone, freely user extendable using tiny cross-compiler SDK
(GCC cross-toolchain, linux, uclibc, busybox, libsdl, alsa, mp3player and audio/video codecs)

place: it near flat entrance door on wall allows gives quick shot on clock,
weather, incoming email (just "you hav email" icon or only mail headers, no reader),
and maybe something replacing refrigerator door with markers/stickers to leave
some messages for family using touchscreen and webcam

no router, but maybe optional extension board with wifi and adsl -- ready
routers at local store works ok
one thernet port for connecting by cable, wifi not needed

price: is critical, thus no X, no Qt or other heavy-load GUI and ever Android,
only pure embedded linux with framebuffer and minimal video/audio support.
