Costs are Country-dependent.

My costs are:
If cubie is powered for 24 Hours a day. Yearly costs are ~ 5 euro.
For Zbox costs Powered 24 Hours a day . Yearly costs are ~ 13 Euro.

Cubieboard A80 ~ 190 Euro

you dont need anything else.
System can be installed on emmc (8gb) -> no other device needed.
Systems which can be used are Linux and Android.
Very low electric voltage.
Good Cpu performance.
No fan (zero Noise)

You can only install special compilied Linux Versions.
Driver support is not up to date.
emmc and sdcard I/O performance is slow.
Only one usb 3.0 (otg)
Only 2 gb of ram.

i measured the electric voltage of two devices:

Cubieboard A80
in operative mode (not idle) + Wlan "ON" and connected as client-> 2,7 Watt
+ USB Webcam connected, streaming webservice "on" and stream recording to file-> 3,7 Watt

by the way. if anyone interested in:

Zotac Zbox CI 320 nano
in operative mode-> 7,1 Watt

Its not relevant anymore. I bought a zotac zbox. Everything works without any issue.

I have an usb 3 wd Disk with an external power supply. This Disk works on every pc . Even my Router with dd-wrt has no Problem. On cubieboard Site i use the Standard power supply for cubie. So where is the Problem? What Do i have to change? I cant change the Power supply of my hard Disk. The Disk wont work If i would use no Power supply.

wifi still has problems
xorg driver uses 1,3 gb of ram.
max available ram are 1.6 not 2,0..

for me this thing is useless...
bad hardware...

i will buy another hardware and sell my cubie

USB3 OTG -> on copying files to usb device or deleting files on the usb 3.0 device , hd stops working and mount point gets lost. -> Cubie is still working but i have to disconnet the power supply from harddisc and restart the cubie to get HD on USB 3.0 working again.

I tried it with two different usb 3.0 devices  -> WD, Scandisk -> all of them make the same issue.

They all stop working after deleting or copying and mount point gets lost.

Is there a problem with USB 3.0 ??

I use the standard ubuntu 0.3 image.

Does anyone have the same problem ??

What do i have to do to get this working with your uboot?
So , I have a fully working Image. I would need a lot of Time to Start again. I dont want to start again from scratch. There is no other way? Only Start from beginning to get the full ram ?. Is there any other way to get that working?
i don´t need a fast gui. I use it only to see different terminals at one time. so gui speed isnt important for me.

you can recompile kernel with less ion memory. But in this case: no 3d, slow 2d, no cedarx.
Only recompile ? I thought it could be managed on boottime. like uEnv.txt

i found something in this forum, but thats only for A10 and A20

There is no uEnv.txt on A80. So i don´t know what i have to start with.

Perhaps you can help me with two other problems.

I want to edit the env.txt on the cubieboard to make a boot menu where i can choose booting from sd-system or from emmc system ? the idea is to have to different systems or an backup system or to boot an installation from sd-card. there are many things we could do with a boot menu.

Can you give me some tip ?

no.... it says "total available mem 1666020"

I read about other cubie A10 and A20 and truck that there are the same problems. And there is a way to modify the env.text to get the full mem space. but A80 has no env.text.

Does anyone know how to get the full mem available on startup ??
Existing (working) sd card image  -> store it on Emmc ?

Is this possible ?

or is there a way make a bootable image from an existing one an flash it to the emmc ?
