i bought it in the view of flashing an os onto it or a sd card and be able to use a lot of software on it but everything i want either doesnt work, is not available specifically for the board or is extremely slow.

and dont get me started on hardware compatibility have to use a wired mouse and if required a keyboard for androiid os and linux is well......linux you have to program everything in to install things nothing like installing things on windows!

then theres the lack of support as in others using these boards and knowing how to solve some simple problems.

this f orum seems focused mostly on trying out new images all the time updating them to newer versions instead of concentrating on whats available and getting it to work well with a lot of software.

i couldnt even install android tv on it the phoenix suite wasnt working after i followed the instructions it still wouldnt flash android tv 2.2 or 2.3 i tried phoenix suite 1.04 1.06 and 1.08 exactly the same.

select image
hold in fel key and put in the mini usb cable and release the fel after a few seconds and it should then flash but doesnt.

the only things i got working was running bfg miner on cubian desktop to run my mining hardware which has been running 24/7 for 3 months sadly the how to i put on here about how to do it has gone missing and nobody cares.

then the only other thing works ok is putting movies on a usb stick and playing via android built in os.

i tried mobdro on android os (an app for free tv movies etc) it works but its not specifically designed for the cubieboard so its slow says my internet is slow too which its not im on fibre optic.

i think im better off buying a decent android tv box and remote and adding stuff to one of those save all these headaches of flashing programming and all that business.

theres my rant!

after several attempts at doing thing with the cubieboard 2 and asking questions on here and so on and not coming up with much in the way of good results im going elsewhere. its sad to see this technology has a lot of potential but there's not enough people behind it making it work so im going for something else.

im disappointed to say the least but  i guess ill have to go with the masses and get something better with more support.

ive been trying to rectify sound output switching with no luck. Ive insttalled pulseaudio alsamixer and pavucontrol. It shows switching outputs in pulseaudio control panel, when I switch from the sunxi codec to sndhdmi I get silence. It would be very nice to be able to switch back and forth to choose between amplified sound through stereo or hdmi sound thru tv when Im on the powersaving mode. ( I live on a sailboat.)

ps. just ran cubian-update and latest version is installed.

i havent had much luck either it would be easier if the default sound device could be changed on the image so it defaults to hdmi and works straight away and would help also for an integrated video player because after all a lot of people use cubieboards for playing video.

on the other hand ive had cubian running 27/7 for 2-3 weeks now from sd card running bitcoin mining software and its good no real problems so far touch wood :)

The size limit for ext2 on modern kernels is 32TB.

You could also use ext4 and disable the journal if your don't want to write too often to the card, as well as disable access-time storage (noatime option).

To disable journal:
Code: [Select]
tune2fs -O ^has_journal /dev/sd[x][n]
tune2fs -o noatime /dev/sd[x][n]

do you mean the hard drive size is 32TB? because im talkingabout single file size. fat 32 has a single file size limit of 4gb

thanks i will keep that in mind i need it to work with both.

i am looking to buy a wifi dongle for android and linux that would work with both of course and preferably not need to add anything extra to make it work. unless there is an easy how to so i could install the drivers.
