Hi !

The Banana Pi Board looks very similar to the CB2:

As they have also an interesting XBMC thread:

Software & Applications / XBMC V13 ARM Android BETA Versions
« on: March 05, 2014, 02:03:54 am »
Hi !

There are beta Versions of XBMC v13 out for ARM / Android. Don't want to flash my NAND again with Android, but would be
interesting if it runs on the CB2 or CT:
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/android/arm/xbmc-13.0-Gotham_beta1-armeabi-v7a.apk
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/android/arm/

Vidonme should run also:
http://forum.vidon.me/forum/software-support/vidon-xbmc/1360-new-releases-vidon-xbmc-v-1-0-0-7-is-out

Anyone who wants to test it if it runs?

Any idea on the ETA for the XBMC version? All my attempts on building a functional xbmc failed miserably. I mean,  could compile it, but the performance for the H264/X264, 720p+ was just plain HORRIBLE, even with mali, cedarx et all active...

Software & Applications / Re: Any chance of OSD with CedarX or Cedrus?

THX Cubieplayer !

You should add changing the permissions for /dev/disp and /dev/cedar_dev and adding the user to the video group
or with a rule:
/etc/udev/rules.d/ 50-disp.rules KERNEL=="disp", MODE="0660", GROUP="video" 50-cedar.rules KERNEL=="cedar_dev", MODE="0660", GROUP="video"

An installation script would be nice...
CedarX Module must be compiled in or if already there it must be loaded.

mplayer2 with vdpau runs fine on cubian with LXDE desktop. It runs not if you don't have a X11, whats
possible if you use vlc (cvlc) with "normal" cedarx.

Currently compiling xbmc with vdpau. Configure was successful, will see with what I end up when it finishes.
Would be great if XBMC could use sunxi-vdpau...

Have you tried the OSD branch of vdpau:

Deutsch / XBMC

Hi !

Vielleicht weiß da wer was ?

Danke
Rainer

I tried mplayer2 with vdpau support on cubian with LXDE desktop regarding this tutorial: http://linux-sunxi.org/Cedrus
It worked fine without changing the memory size with local mp4/h264 1080p files on a USB stick and data rates tested up to 15MBit/s.
It seems that mplayer needs a X11 Desktop. On a cubiuntu install with only XBMC running on it, and starting mplayer as external player it didn't worked, also not with calling mplayer directly from the shell. I got everytime the error "Couldn't open X11..."
Opening an embedded video on youtube or vimeo worked not for me, which is possible with vlc, but vlc gives me always an error.

An interesting question would be to enable vdpau usage within xbmc, so it uses Cedrus...

could you please post a shot tutorial about mplayer2 and vdpau?

I installed on the Android v1.06 Image xbmc from the apk provided by team-xbmc. But that didn't use
hw-accelaration. Was very slow on playback...

Cubieboard.org currently gives only nand images on android for the CB2. Which board do you use?

thx

You should not install vlc via apt-get, you need to compile it from here: http://linux-sunxi.org/VLC
Where you have at first to compile/install cedarx to get hw accelaration.

If you use cubian as base, the build-dep xbmc command runs fine and all libraries including schroedinger and flac get installed und you are fine. That was on cubiuntu with the missing libraries.

If you use cubian, do not do cubian-update!
apt-get update is ok.

Software & Applications / XBMC on Cubian A20 please have a look
« on: February 05, 2014, 03:47:43 pm »
Hi !

I installed cubian r4 on the A20. I didn't made cubian-update. I changed locales to Europe/German, Keyboard to German, etc.
I had to blacklist the rtl8192cu, only then my rtl8188cus loaded ok. Configured my WLAN in /etc/network/interfaces.
I made apt-get update and followed then the steps in the linux-sunxi XBMC tutorial.
After compiling cedarx and xbmc, I compiled hybris...
When starting the xbmc binary I need to be root user. If I let as cubie user, I don't get a mouse curser.
System Exit back to the shell goes fine in 1 of 6 or 7 trys, mostly the system freezes. When trying to make a reboot from inside
xbmc the system freezes always.

Playback is also very random. Sometimes it plays and sometimes not. This happens also on local USB media or on streams.
I had the USB stick connected directly on one USB port on the cubie, keyboard-mouse-wifi is on a powered USB hub.
Probably theres something problematic with the USB port?
I have here a LOG-File to look at: http://dcs.co.at/docs/xbmc_cubian.log

I made following when recording the Log:
opened ZDF Mediathek
1. File failure
2. File success
3. File failure
4. File failure

opened USB Media:
1. File failure
2. File success
3. File success
4. File failure

So if someone could have a look to the log file would be awesome...

Some things I see when it get to a failure:

WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(video)::Get - asked for new data packet, with nothing available
INFO: CAESinkALSA - ALSA: pcm.c:2217:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.front
INFO: CAESinkALSA - Unable to open device "front" for playback
INFO: CAESinkALSA::InitializeHW - Your hardware does not support AE_FMT_FLOAT, trying other formats
INFO: CAESinkALSA::InitializeHW - Using data format AE_FMT_S16NE
DEBUG: CSoftAE::Run - Sink was forgotten
DEBUG: CSoftAE::Run - Sink restart flagged
INFO: CSoftAE::InternalOpenSink - sink incompatible, re-starting
DEBUG: CSoftAE::InternalOpenSink - ALSA Initialized:
DEBUG:   Output Device : Default (sunxi-CODEC sunxi PCM)

The above regards I think all to Audio Issues...

any help would be great
thx
Rainer

I compiled vlc with this tutorial:
http://linux-sunxi.org/VLC
After playing a lot around it compiled with success... when calling vlc it says following version:
VLC media player 2.0.5 Twoflower (revision 11d59d1)
Which seems not to be the version you are using... how did you install vlc?

To this tutorial linked up there, I have to say there are some things missing for my case,  which can make troubles at compiling. I used the cubian distro as base.
When installing cedarx I had to copy the lib files (.so files) into /usr/lib and doing ldconfig after that.
The header file within the libcedarx folder in the /include folder I copied the hole libcedarx folder into /usr/include.
Then I had to compile schroedinger codec before I started to compile vlc and disable flac codec at configure.

After I tested vlc with cedarx, I compiled and installed libhybris. It's working... tomorrow I will try to put xbmc on cubian...

best,
rainer

Thanks now the video decoding works with those libve libraries. Just wondering is there support for subtitles and hotkeys? Hotkeys don't seem to work for me. I get this piece of code everytime I run cvlc
Code: [Select]
[0xdce6a0] main libvlc error: interface "globalhotkeys, none" initialization failed(not sure if it's related to this or supposed to get when you use cvlc).
I have no idea.  I've only tested it as shown and with the python libvlc interfaces.  Someone did mention on google groups that they got it working with the ncurses interface.
Oh, and I *am* fairly certain that subtitles are not supported, as they require some kind of framebuffer overlay to blend the text bitmaps with the video, which isn't working with the cedar drivers on linux (that I know of -- if anyone has heard differently, please post a link).
I can confirm that with the android cedar drivers (http://linux-sunxi.org/CedarX/libve) subtitles works. I used the linaro build with XBMC built as per the linux sunxi wiki instructions.

Would you please be so kind and upload an Image, would be very interested in this...

thx
Rainer
