Title: Cubiuntu 0.6 for A20 with 3.4.75+ kernel
Post by: patwood on December 30, 2013, 09:17:00 pm
I have uploaded a new CUBIUNTU for the A20 with the latest 3.4.75+ kernel.  HW video decode is working, and libhybris is integrated: http://linux-sunxi.org/CedarX/libve.  This solves issues with weighted P-frame prediction in files like the Sintel movie trailer described here: http://linux-sunxi.org/CedarXVideoRenderingChart.

http://dl.cubieforums.com/patwood/Cubiuntu0.6.5b-a20.img.xz
size: 901406416, md5: 994133991092ca09a1d0e9e44ed31353

As before passwords are root/root linaro/linaro.

No, xbmc isn't in this version.

EDIT: This version is obsolete and unsupported (and removed).  See http://www.cubieforums.com/index.php?topic=568.0 for a newer distro.

a) Is wifi and eth0 working on this one ?
b) What Git repo URL did you use ?
c) What branch on the Git repo did you use ?
d) Is the kernel Kconfig enabled ?

A. Yes.  But wifi can take up to a minute or so to connect.  Not quite sure why yet.
B. https://github.com/patrickhwood/linux-sunxi
C. pat-3.4.75
D. Not exactly what you mean by this.  If you mean /proc/config.gz via CONFIG_IKCONFIG_PROC, yes.  The config used to build this kernel is also in the file config.3.4.75-sun4i+ in the boot partition.

Hi Pat!

Pls. would you make a separate kernel/module package with your .75 kernel. I hope, I can use it with the cubieez img as the previous ones (.67 .61 .43)

Thanx.

Okay, it's here: http://dl.cubieforums.com/patwood/A20-kernel-3.4.75.tar.gz and the A10 kernel is here: http://dl.cubieforums.com/patwood/A10-kernel-3.4.75.tar.gz.

That file is the a20 version of CUBIUNTU 0.6.  Currently the a20 version of CUBIUNTU 0.8 doesn't have a working Mali driver, so I haven't uploaded it.

The 3.4.75+ a20 kernel is also in the ftp downloads.

Update is fine, but I do not recommend upgrade as sometimes a20 specific code is overwritten by the upgrade.

I just downloaded it to another directory and compared it with my original upload file. Then I did

xzcat -t < Cubiuntu0.6.5b-a20.img.xz

with no errors.  Is your md5 the same?

Works, really well, I thought that the glmark-es2 and gears were going to be faster, but the 1080p video runs quite smoothly (60hz). A simple video player would be very nice to make a quite acceptable desktop.

Thanks again, I'll try to follow these improvements.

just to add to this if i plug my cubieboard into an older lcd tv it shows everything perfect and its running on 13xx x 768.

It may not be reading the HDMI EDID properly.  On the first partition (FAT), there's a file called uEnv.txt.  Try playing around with the disp.screen0_output_mode setting, e.g., change it from

disp.screen0_output_mode=EDID:1280x720p60

to

disp.screen0_output_mode=1920x1080p60

or

disp.screen0_output_mode=1920x1080p50

By removing the EDID:, you will prevent the kernel from using the value returned from the monitor before falling back to the hard-coded value.

thanks that has helped somewhat, at the moment it runs best on this setting

disp.screen0_output_mode=1280x720p60

but its still not quite there as there is a slight bit around the edges still off screen.

i tried 1920x1080p60 and p50 it was worse on 50 and i tried 50 on the lower resolution that was worse.

the right hand size of the screen is fine its the top the left and the bottom slightly off. but ive had this problem on another tv before using windows and the tv but there you can use a GUI to change resolution as on here you can not

As an alternative I tried out the latest cubian image for the A20 board and this distribution lets me use the audio capture device:

cubie@Cubian:~$ uname -a
Linux Cubian 3.4.67+ #4 SMP PREEMPT Wed Nov 6 08:31:09 CST 2013 armv7l GNU/Linux
cubie@Cubian:~$ arecord -l

card 0: sunxicodec [sunxi-CODEC], device 0: M1 PCM [sunxi PCM]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
cubie@Cubian:~$

However, jackd2 in cubian crashes with "bus error", whereas jackd2 in ubuntu-linaro works without crashing, at least for playback.

(I also tried installing the linaro packages in cubian - still "bus error")

I would like to use analogue audio input and output simultaneously with jackd, building a sound processing device with the cubieboard.

Hi and thanks alot for the upload :) .

Finally. after 5 nerverending weeks of waiting, I have received my CB2 ! I installed your (patwoods) distro and everything worked fine :) .

Thumbs up!

I have problems with three things:
1. I don't get flash player working. On the site "supermechs.com" it says that I need flashplayer 11.1 or higher. I THINK I have installed it correctly, but how can I check that?!

2. Youtube does not work

3. HDMI sound does not work

Are there any ways to fix these things?

Thanks and greetings,
Jojo

Edit:
P.S.: I wrote this post with my CB2 via VNC :)

Hi Jojo, i haven't cb2, but i hope is the same as cubiuntu for cb1 :P

flash: try to install (if not present) gnash, with apt-get install browser-plugin-gnash, but youtube works only at 240p, and may be you need firefox;

hdmi audio: if you are on vnc way, and no hdmi cable connected, hdmi audio don't works. If cable is connected, try to open pulse audio volume control, and set the green flag on hdmi output, this should solve

Edit 1:
One more question:
I've seen that gparted is preinstalled. It also recognizes the internal NAND. Is there any reason why I should prefere the strange "sunxi nand-part" tool instead of gparted to reorganize the NAND?

Edit 2:
I've "accidentally" did a "apt-get upgrade". Everything SEEMS to work fine. Where might be problems, that I don't see at the moment?!

Thanks!

On cubiuntu (a10) i haven't had any troubles upgrading, it works without problem.
For flash, is due to the fact that adobe don't release anymore arm flashplayer, and mostpart of sites need it and don't recognize gnash (or lightspark, with ff). And sites wich use jwpayler too, want only adobe flash :-\
For the moment try to open a file on youtube searching it in html5, it should works.
When finished with cubiuntuA10 with Ikeeki, i try to help him with cb2, i swear on Pat head  ;D ;D ;D

Gparted use a partition table as nand1, nand2, etc...i think (but not tried) sunxi nand-part use nanda, nandb, etc?  :-[
Cheers

Well others have managed to trash their nand using gparted and fdisk, so if you're willing to go through the partition table recovery, go right ahead and use it.

Bottom line: the nand partition table is an allwinner proprietary format, and gparted may know the overall layout of the nand based on the fact that the kernel reports this information (it has to -- otherwise how would "mount" work?), but I seriously doubt anyone customized gparted for the AW partition table.

I guess the most likely places where there would be problems are places where the standard install was modified -- for example, renaming /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/mesa-egl and replacing it with the mali version.

I'm running an upgrade test now on a fresh sd card install and will let you know the results.

EDIT: I finished the upgrade, and everything works except vlc.  The symptoms are the same as I experience with cubiuntu 0.8 when I attempted to get vlc running on that -- the kernel reports that the DISP device layer is allocated (which means that the proper cedarx driver is used and the device files have the proper permissions), then the DISP device is immediately released and vlc reports a decoder error.

So if you don't care about videos, go for the upgrade.

EDIT2: I just found that the upgrade also installed a new /usr/lib/mali-egl; removing it re-enabled 3D acceleration.

I've used the nand-part tool to theck out my NAND after I recognized, that there are no mounted NAND partitions listed in the file manager.
Could you (Patrick) or anyone else please tell me, if the output of part-nand is normal?!

Looks like a perfectly normal Android install from the nand partition layout.

Normally, I don't think the file manager mounts the nand partitions.  You can always mount them manually just to look around:

mount -r /dev/nand1 /mnt
ls -R /mnt

(note that the -r mounts the file system read-only, so you don't have to worry about deleting or modifying a file, or unmounting it later)

Ok, that sounds not so bad  ??? .

But when I try to mount /dev/nand, terminal output is:
Quote
linaro@linaro-ubuntu-desktop:/$ sudo mount -r /dev/nand /mnt
NTFS signature is missing.
Failed to mount '/dev/nand': Das Argument ist ungültig
The device '/dev/nand' doesn't seem to have a valid NTFS.
Maybe the wrong device is used? Or the whole disk instead of a
partition (e.g. /dev/sda, not /dev/sda1)? Or the other way around?

Of couse I tried nand1, nand 2, nanda, nandb... they "don't exist". Sorry for disturbing with "noobish" things...  :o

They "don't exist"?  What do

dmesg | grep nand

and

cat /proc/partitions

report?

Hi and thanks a lot for the support :) . Maybe I should have opened a new thread  :o ...

dmesg | grep nand says:
Quote
linaro@linaro-ubuntu-desktop:~$ dmesg | grep nand
[    1.468156] [NAND] nand driver version: 0x2 0x9
[    1.530629]  nand:
[    1.535071] [NAND]nand driver, ok.

cat /proc/partitions says:
Quote
linaro@linaro-ubuntu-desktop:~$ cat /proc/partitions
major minor  #blocks  name

  93        0    3989504 nand
179        0    7761920 mmcblk0
179        1      14336 mmcblk0p1
179        2    7746560 mmcblk0p2

I am quite new in all this stuff with partitions and file systems. But now my assumption:
If there is a partition table, but no accessable partition and no mountable devices: maybe the partition table is ok, but the file system is damaged? Could it be worth a try to create a new file system over the nand?

Thanks!

I just noticed that the first partition table on your nand has an error:

Quote
linaro@linaro-ubuntu-desktop:~/Downloads/patwood/sunxi-tools-master$ sudo ./nand-part -f a20 /dev/nand
check partition table copy 0: mbr: version 0x00bcd08e, magic
magic        is not softw411

but the other three are okay.  The partition table is repeated 4 times for redundancy, in case the nand has an error in one of them, but for some reason the nand driver seems to be skipping this, which is weird, because I've seen the A10's nand driver handle this specific problem correctly.

You could try rewriting the original partition table with nand-part.

of course I will try. But to be honest: I don't know how  :-[ . I have tried ./nand-part --help, but sadly that was not really helpful. Even the README file does not contain anything usable about that  :-\ . Would you be so kind to give me a small hint how to do that?

An additional idea from me: maybe it would be good to have an identical image of the NAND of CB1, CB2 and CT in the download section and a how-to-reset-to-original-state?! Please ignore me if there is already something like that :D .

The Cubiuntu0.6.5c-a20.img.xz image is smaller than the Cubiuntu0.6.5b-a20.img.xz image.  Cubiuntu0.6.5c-a20.img.xz is 3516MB, and it fits on a bunch of my 4GB cards, so if it doesn't fit on your "4GB" card, the card's actually smaller than 3.5GB.

Okay, here's what you do: first run nand-part and save the correct layout info.  Then run nand-part like this

nand-part -f a20 /dev/nand 32768 'bootloader 32768 0' 'env 32768 0' 'boot 32768 0' 'system 1048576 2' ...

where you need to replace ... with the info from the rest of the partitions.  The format for each is 'name partition-size user_type' from the original nand-part output.  Just make sure you use the partition size column and not partition start.  Before writing the table, it'll show you what it's going to write and ask you for confirmation; double check the new settings against the original output before accepting them.

Harder than it sounds.  Any given android release can have different partition sizes (well the first few are probably always the same) or even a different number of partitions.  Same goes for linux nand installs.

Since there are lots of android images on the download sites, it's generally easier for folks to just use phoenixsuite and reflash their boards with a fancy GUI tool (which seems to fail for obtuse reasons way too often).  Even with its problems, phoenixsuite is probably easier for noobs to use than flashing an SD card, booting linux, and running nand-part from a shell window. (Note: I'm not discouraging you from using nand-part; you've already gotten to the point where you can run it, so you might as well go all in.  Worst case -- you have to reflash android with phoenixsuite.)

Hello Patrick,

thank you very much for your help! I've got my NAND back 8) . The partitions are now shown in the file manager again and all data is still there. Nand-part returned no errors. I think I have learned very much about how to use nand-part.

But what about the first part of the NAND, that is not defined during partitioning?! You know, the fist partition starts at 32768. What is in the area between 0 and 32767? Is this the magic "specific allwinner data", that I have read about somwhere else? Would it make sense to backup this data?

@ phoenixsuite:
yes, that might be right. but for me phoenixsuite would have been the last thing to try, because I don't linke these "shiny-button-icon-click-click-click"-programs. I must say, that I am a little proud of myself that I got nand-part working ;) ...

Thanks again and best regards!

Hi

Put "capture_used=1"   in the audio section of the script.bin file.  (you need sunxi-tools, bin2fex, edit and fex2bin in this order and overwrite or excange the new script.bin with the original script.bin)

Excellent work, congratulations on restoring your nand!

Yes, the first 32K blocks (16MB) is the magic allwinner data, including the partition table.  You can save it with

dd if=/dev/nand of=nandbackup.img bs=512 count=32768

be=512 should be optional, but it doesn't hurt.  You could use other values for bs and count (e.g., bs=1M count=16) as long as they work out to the same final size.  The data will be valid unless you decide change your partition layout.

Please help:

There are two versions mentioned here in this thread:
1.) Cubiuntu0.6.5b-a20.img.xz and
2) Cubiuntu0.6.5c-a20.img.xz

What is the difference?
I can download #1 from a link at this thread -OK
Bu where is the #2 download located?

Are these images for CB2 and CT?

Are these images for nand or sc card?

Thank you for your help

c is newer than b.  It is on the same server, just change the b to c in the URL. They are both SD card images.

b is for the cb2, c is for both.  I suggest you try the c version, as it is slightly newer.

I don't see anything obvious that changed between the b and c versions that would affect the CPU sensor. Actually, I don't see how it's enabled on the b version.

Hi Pat !

I'm running the c version. The desktops are different if I log in with root or with linaro. Is that both lxde?

If I want to install XBMC, I need to install that from the sunxi page right? Not the ubuntu version?
Regarding here: http://linux-sunxi.org/XBMC (http://linux-sunxi.org/XBMC) it is described for A10, will that work for A20 as well?

thx

You might want to check if the mali drivers are enabled for the framebuffer which (I think) XBMC uses. Otherwise you end up with lots of crashes and no explanation why.

If this has been fixed already (both fb/x11), ignore this post.

Mali should be working on the 0.6.5b and 0.6.5c images (I ran glmark2-es2 to verify, but nothing else).

Yes, it's lxde.  Probably just different backgrounds for the two users.  It's copied from Cubiuntu 0.6 for the A10, so tokka or ikeeki would know more about it.

Ok thx Pat for the Infos. Only a few more questions please:
Will it be possible to get a current cubiuntu Image without Desktops? Complete OS only without x-server?
Or is it easy to remove it from both users, because it is not needed for XBMC?

As in the "BUILD" Section of the XBMC tutorial described, there are Cedarx and Mali dependencies included from git repo. Should the install of them avoided, because you built that already into the image?

thx

If you're not concerned about the additional space it uses, you can just do this (as root, not sudo) to disable lxdm:

echo manual > /etc/init/lxdm.override

Now lxdm won't start up automatically, but you can start it manually with

sudo start lxdm

You may need to install these, as the binaries included with the distro may not also include the headers and linkables for development (it's just got what the A10 Cubiuntu already has).  My one attempt at building xbmc about 6 months ago failed miserably, so I'm afraid I'm not a lot of help here.

vlc.  Yes, libhybris is installed in /usr/local, and yes, if xbmc is compiled with libcedar, it'll use libhybris.  However, the development files (headers and linkable libraries, as opposed to just the .so's) may no be installed.  I'll poke around later when I get home to see what's actually included in the distro.

You've got the CEDARINCLUDES for the .h files needed by the compiler and the CEDARLIBS needed by the linker.  There's a libvecore.so, and no adapter, fbm, vbv, or libvecore include directories.

Hi Patwood,

Which part of specific code do you refer? Does it mean that I cannot go with a standard distrib like debian Jessie amrhf, using one of the kernel (with module and firmware) you provide?

Thank you for your advises.

I ran a quick test of this.  Mesa was reinstalled, which clobbered Mali.  I assume that other customized packages like vlc or xbmc might also be "upgraded". The system did continue to boot to a GUI.

This was with Ubuntu and apt-get. Debian may react completely differently.

Pat, as mentioned here on the bottom of the page http://linux-sunxi.org/CedarX/libve (http://linux-sunxi.org/CedarX/libve) it should work....

Is there any way to see the linker command line?  I know a lot of the build systems suppress the command lines, but if there's a verbose mode, perhaps that'll tell us which libraries it's attempting to link with.

I started today, but the compiler was running when i left the office, so I will know more tomorrow.
As I understand it, at the end we need only to exchange the libvecore.so but we will see...

cd /allwinner/xbmc-pvr-binhf/lib
  mv libvecore.so libvecore.so.old_native_linux_blob
  ln -s /usr/local/hybris/lib/libvecore.so libvecore.so

so there seems something going wrong...
cvlc on the user linaro is playing the file fine and in realtime, but xbmc seems to open the file but nothing more happens then. When I open xbmc on the user linaro it is crashing and freezing the system. So I can only open with root user xbmc...
Here is log of xbmc where you can see that it is opening cedar, but giving no picture....
It is also necessary to disable the screensaver but didn't got it switched off permanently...

The line is: "11:21:34 T:2917225536   DEBUG: A10: cedarv playing"

This is the Output of the bash when opening the xbmc.bin and then I made a conf file in /etc/ld.so.conf.d/xbmc.conf und made again an ldconfig.... ouput of the linker with "cedar" canbe found
at the bottom

The warnings are coming at cvlc exactly the same...

so one solution can be an external player as described here: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=External_players (http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=External_players)

I made a playercorefactory.xml which is placed at: /root/.xbmc/userdata

and looks like this:
<playercorefactory>
<players>
   <player name="VLC" type="ExternalPlayer" audio="false" video="true">
     <filename>/usr/bin/cvlc</filename>
     <args>--demux ffmpeg --codec cedar --vout cedarfb --no-osd "{1}"</args>
     <hidexbmc>false</hidexbmc>
     <hideconsole>false</hideconsole>
     <warpcursor>none</warpcursor>
   </player>
</players>
<rules action="prepend">
   <rule filetypes="mp4" filename="*" player="VLC"/>
</rules>
</playercorefactory>

It calls the cvlc player when opening a mp4 file, but cvlc doesn't launch because cvlc can't be run as root.
Now we need to find a trick that cvlc is launched as user linaro in the arguments tag.... because xbmc is not running under this user

so cvlc should be compiled with the --enable-run-as-root flag

You could try to setuid cvlc to the user linaro:

chown linaro cvlc
chmod 4755 cvlc

The warnings are from libhybris and appear to be normal -- they're just noting the .so libraries that it's loading.  The mixer error is sound related.  The display mod error... I've never see that one before!

YESSSS the trick with the external player is running fine with files and streaming...
currently I'm not able to stop playback... but its working... :)

when the movie stops, system freezes....total unstable....

how can we get an actual version of xbmc to the cubie? what needs to be ported?
there were also some libraries not found when I tried to make the dependencies which i had to skip...
so the xbmc installation itself could be not ok as well...

when i want to do apt-get build-dep xbmc it says that i need to add some source-URIs for the in the sources.list-file.
I then made add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa which placed a new file in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/team-xbmc-ppa-precise.list
I also added the links from that file in the sources.list file...

But build-dep gives me always the same fault...
any hints?

thx

Hi There,

I have looked into detail the boot loading via UART for this kernel (Patwood A20 3.4.75+) and I have noticed some points:

This note could be rephrased?

<5>Linux version 3.4.75-sun7i+ (pwood@pwood-laptop.patrickhwood.dyndns.org) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) ) #37 SMP PREEMPT Tue Dec 31 00:22:38 EST 2013

Some issues with the usb manager

[usb_manager]: CONFIG_USB_SW_SUNXI_USB0_OTG

WRN:L480(/home/pwood/arm/mk802/linux-sunxi/drivers/usb/sunxi_usb/manager/usb_manager.c):ERR: get_usb_cfg failed

Question ? Does the pwm_sunxi need to be loaded as module or is it embedded to this kernel?

Otherwise, this kernel configuration seems to be fine. So, I would thank Patwood very much for his great job. It saved me lot's of time! Thant you, thank you!

I don't get these specific messages; however, I get others depending on whether the OTG port is connected to a host or not.  I believe you will always get some set of warnings from the driver depending on the type of USB (host, client, or none) that's connected to the port, the script.bin settings, and whether a gadget driver is loaded.  There are certainly issues with the allwinner USB OTG drivers; for example, see http://www.cubieforums.com/index.php/topic,1426.0.html.  It is unlikely they'll be addressed in the 3.4 kernel.

This is probably coming from u-boot, not the kernel:

#ifdef CONFIG_SUN7I
        clock_set_pll1(912000000);
#else
        clock_set_pll1(1008000000);
#endif

It is the default setting for all builds using the linux-sunxi u-boot.

You can, of course, set the cpu frequency to any reasonable value you want using the cpufrequtils package or the sysfs files in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq.

[info] Loading kernel module pwm_sunxi.
modprobe: FATAL: Module pwm_sunxi not found.

To find out about the status of any module, just look in the included config:

# zgrep PWM /proc/config
# CONFIG_ATMEL_PWM is not set
# CONFIG_SUNXI_PWM is not set

<6>mali: clk_div 3
[   23.143120] mali: clk_div 3
Mali: mali clock set completed, clock is  320000000 Hz

According to the allwinner docs, the maximum clock for mali is 381MHz.  Also, the cedarx video decoder and mali share the same clock (pll4); I don't know what the cedarx max clock is, but the allwinner source code maxes it out on the A10 at 320MHz. Their A20 code allows much higher speeds, but testing (on only one sample) showed problems above 384MHz.  Because of this, without a lot of testing of lots of samples, I don't think any clock speed above 320MHz for the video decoder should be considered "safe" for production.

The pll4 clock is set to 960MHz in the script.bin, and the mali frequency set by dividing this with mali_clkdiv (3).  This is probably the best choice for this clock, as the Mali speed of 320 is reasonable, and 960 has a lot of integer divisors (the cedarx driver dynamically selects the decoder clock speed based on requests from the video player software and the available integer divisors of pll4).  You can experiment with this by changing pll4 and mali_clkdiv in the script.bin if you want.

Hello All,

Im new here and use this image for some time and works very good.
I installed it on an SD card.
Now i want to add an SSD to my cubieboard2, but i dont want to install everything new again.
What is the easiest way to do this, so the cubie boots from nand or SD and the OS is on the SSD.

Does somebody else have issues with connection dropping via ssh? I'm currently trying to build up xbmc, and every 5 minutes or so, the connection dies, no log whatsoever to be found in syslog.
The only thing I did to the image is to disable the lxde autoload.
Thanks!

Wait, its even weirder...I think it has to do with the number of lines being displayed. A top or dmesg completely trashes the connection.
No idea on what its going on...tried a different network cable  and power source, to no avail.

Ok, a step closer, but non functional nonetheless.

Sucessfully built xbmc using the sunxi guide, working like a charm, even with the usb soundcard I bought to use my ancient and analog home theater speakers.
Initially I had some issues with the linaro user running xbmc, solved by adding the user to the vid group and changing access mode to the input devices.
However,the very sparse files I could reproduce on 720p and above, the performance was just awful, with a lot of pink artifacts, laggy and choppy. As per my knowledge, the system is using the cedar libs and libhybris (at least I got that from the rainer and patwood comments).
Any ideas are welcomed.

As before passwords are root/root linaro/linaro.

No, xbmc isn't in this version.

Hello is in this version wifi works out of the box and also is network manager running-working normal or it needs manual running every time?

I don't run network manager, so all network configuration that I do is with /etc/network/interfaces.  In this case, wifi works just fine on both the CB2 and CT.  You should probably be looking at the newer versions of Cubiuntu that ikeeki has been doing, as they have more useful features.

Perhaps someone who has tried network manager can comment here.

Hello,

A quick question, are we ready to embrace systemd with this kernel version?

I have had a quick look and it seems that (for both versions, 3.4.75 and 3.4.79) it misses us some kernel options? CONFIG_FHANDLE ? CONFIG_SECCOMP (optional, but recommanded)?
I'm not a specialist, and I prefere to double check with all of you guys. :)

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/systemd/tree/README#n36

(from https://wiki.debian.org/systemd#Installing_and_Testing)

What is your feeling about this issue that is coming with the Jessie Debian version (the one I'm running)?

Regards,
exxos.

Guys i have one question.

Currently my CB2 is running the android image version 1.06 on the nand. If i install Cubiuntu0.6.5c-a20.img.xz to an SD card will it corrupt the boot from the nand? I'm asking this because i tried this once with another cubiuntu image and then the android could not boot(The progress bar was stuck). Other members have also reported that. Do i need to also install something else apart from the above image? Any extra configuration that needs to be made?

Thank you in advance.

jackd in the Debian distro is broken and will crash with a bus error. This requires an update in the Debian distro and that hasn't happened. You have to go to the JackAudio site, download a version and compile and install it yourself. Note that you have to leave jackd from the distro installed - if you try to remove it you also have to take out mplayer, vlc, etc, etc. So you also need to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to where you installed your own jackd, or you will get many complaints as your jackd tried to find things in the distro's libraries.

Even then, you hit problems with things like jack-rack as /dev/snd/alsa-seq doesn't exist. Haven't found out what to do about that yet.

Have you tried the cubiuntu distros? Nor this one, as it's getting out of date, but .888?
