Vladimir, when I login via SSH as linaro user, I can't do sudo.

Error Message:
sudo: effective uid is not 0, is sudo installed setuid root?

# apt-get -y remove sudo
# apt-get install sudo

I *think* this kernel was built using mine, so you can do:

The kernel was not even compiled from Your source code. I just took Your compiled kernel image.

hey guys,
fist Thank you to get that amazing distro for the cubie2 to work with xbmc and that on :)

i come from germany and i need to have an german keyboard layout to have the right text-input because i don't know all US keyboard keys to get the right commands ;)

so it would be nice to have a way to change the keyboard layout i can't do it with the dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-layout because the german locale is missing in the "setup-list"

is there a way to change that?

greets Thhunder

please be regard of my bad english some of my words came out of google translate...

Even better! Then change the above to "so you can definitely do:"  :)

Thhunder

my linux practise is not enough to change the kernel.... so it would be nice to get some help for it and i think some other people have the same problem?
so for this threat it is too much to write an how-to compile a new kernel with all support of some other languages so it is an "todo" for the new release i prefer this image for the cubie as my real fav.

I doubt you'll need to recompile the kernel to change the keyboard settings -- that was for a different question.

Maybe you need to generate the locale: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Locale

Maybe you need to install language-pack-de

From time to time I have to remember that Cubieboard is a sign of experimentation and not a final product.
Were a final product for Media Center would fail before the first step. While hardware much less robust as raspeberry are other more advanced stage, the Cubie's crawling (and I think that will remain so for a long time) when it comes to pay MediaCenter.
In the end I end up asking myself is that I did the right way, buying a Ferrari to be directed by trainees when it comes to XBMC, or should have opted for a popular car driven by experts?
Even because, when it comes to internships, and part of them being me, I'm a perfect ignoramus programming and totally dependent breakers to the lines of code in programming.
Maybe even tomorrow I'm convinced it is better for me to leave soon for a finished product (for XBMC) and turn off the frustration with the Cubie V2 ...

Vladimir

Once again I want to thank all participants of this topic for Your help in finding and solving problems!

!! Testing release !!

A20-linaro-raring-server-xbmc-0.3-4gbcard.img.tar.xz (1.27 GB)
https://mega.co.nz/#!9J9SyDQT!LsPQgDjNHJwYeiMx-_VGK39bs4caM41OQkXuntKHtMc

Features:

The kernel has been updated to version 3.4.61+ from image found at
http://dl.cubieboard.org/software/a20-cubieboard/lubuntu/cb-a20-lubuntu-12.10-v1.06/cb2-lubuntu-server-20131026/

Root filesystem is completely changed to the rootfs from above mentioned image.

Playing some h.264 files become smoother. Some others files h.264, which previously played normally, now slow down. :) Once playing such file xbmc was crashed.
But even when using a native linux blob of libve (now installed by default) is no longer pink artifacts.

Fixed :
Lirc
Airplay
Shutdown/Reboot
USB Autoplug

Installed:
Webmin. To access via webmin type in the browser: https://(YOUR LINARO-SERVER IP):10000

Just in case - logins/passwords
linaro/linaro
root/root
admin/admin (for webmin)

Issues/Bugs (new kernel - new issues :) )
In the left part of the screen periodically visible light artifacts.
Continuing problems with playing h.264 as mentioned above.
CEC still not available.

Lirc: You should customize your remote control. I didn't it totally for myself, because I do not plan to use it, but I can suggest You to read key codes using irw /dev/lircd, write it down, and then change your Lircmap.xml as it says here : http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=How-to:Setup_Lirc

After dd use gparted to expand the partition on the remaining space of sd card.
I decided not to waste time to upload 8gb image. If you want to recompile xbmc - simply extend the second partition by using gparted on the 8gb card and take xbmca20 folder from the previous image, or begin anew with http://linux-sunxi.org/XBMC

Good luck, and enjoy fighting with new version :)

Looks amazing Vladimir!
Can't wait to try it the second I get home!

Thank you!

Great job Vladimir!

Quick question, wich remote did you tested the LIRC interface? I had no luck whatsoever wether using a Samsung TV Series C remote nor with my WMC Usb remote.
You're not using the android cedar drivers, I assume?

Thanks!

My remote - Samsung BN59-00940A. With not modified Lircmap.xml all buttons are mixed.
If try to change lircd.conf - nothing works. It seems that there is only way to adjust Lircmap.xml in xbmc.

All drivers are linux based.

About version 0.3 .

Vladimir know you have worked hard to ensure that this distro to work. I followed his participation in two forums trying to find solutions to ongoing problems . Congratulations on the engagement .

But even in this version the problems remain and some have worsened . For me the issue of reboot , shutdown and crash persists ... and now more steadily. Honestly . In videos of 720P onwards ( including Youtube ) the slow is terrible ( this, in my view, was a regression ) . It seems something related to buffer or codec ( ffmpeg ) . The videos under 720P ( Youtube ) , to begin to play , but after 1 minute the screen lock and just restarting . Me twice appeared pink screen ( to replace the white screen ) . In all the videos I tested the audio 're very bad . Is disappearing and returning with constancy.
Segmentation fault constant. I found that the problem is not ssd . I installed Android on it to take the doubt and worked without problems .
I wish other people verificassem these issues pointed out, if possible.

I'm discouraged !

I believe my plaquinha not like Linaro / Ubuntu.
I installed the Debian version (http://www.cubieforums.com/index.php/topic, 946.0.html) and finally got to watch a movie almost entirely smoothly. One important detail that I realized: this release Linaro, CPU usage without touching anything goes to 70% usage. In Debian, the same situation, is 13-20%. Clear that Debian needs tweaking (changing the sound setting for HDMI black screen - not solved with parameters Env.txt and locking keyboard and mouse after a while - what was happening in the picture of the Linaro 0.1). But it was the only time I could watch a movie without completely freezes or crashes XBMC using the Cube.

I had read about it in the XBMC forum and posted a few days ago that had compiled XBMC in Cubiez and was more stable ... XBMC works better in Ubuntu than in Debian.
