Adding external Flash Memory and a second SD card slot

Hello everyone!

I have been hacking around with the CubieBoard/HackBerry for quite some time now and I am currently using it as in my vision-robotics projects/personal server respectively.

I was planning to add an external SD card and and external Flash memory for storage purposes. Currently I am using the SD card slot provided for my Operating System and don't wanna touch that, so I need want to add the SD card slot for accessing my cards and storing them on this external Flash memory (64GB space)

Anyone has done this before, or has any leads so that I don't end up reinventing the wheel?

Thanks a lot!

I´m aware this is not properly the answer you hope, but another option is you connect a cheap USB/SD stick reader ( around U$ 1,00 ) that is treated by OS as a midia driver.

If you need to boot up from the second SD card and dont need nand
http://linux-sunxi.org/Cubieboard/SDC2
otherwise just solder it to SDIO3

you may need to check that its enabled in the script.bin

@pcklee123 Thanks a lot brother! I think solution seems like something I can try! Do you have an idea of what sort of transfer rates I can expect from the second SD card slot?

Speed should be the same as the 1st slot. Be careful with the instructions the pin numbering on the sdcard holders is strange

NOOB alert!!!
I want to override the flash completely because 4GB isnt enough for me...how can I override it???They said this can be done by shorting "appropriate pins" but didnt mention the pins....and another NOOB class question...I will be using SD card adapter for my microSD card...if I override the NAND...will that microSD be treated as a NAND flash???I mean will I be able to install Livesuit NAND images there????I wwant to run Android but there is no SD card image for that.
and another weird question...just in case I might want to just replace the NAND flash chip with a bigger one...can someone suggest me a model for some 32GB or at least 8/16GB flash which will be pin compatible with this NAND????

Do you have the equipment and tools to replace these chips?

Look up the data sheets for these chips, using their part numbers (printed on the package). You should find there some information for other sizes and the pinout details.

well...the flash memory chip package isnt too scary...I was thinking about adding more RAMs as well but their freakin BGA package stopped me.
The datasheets could not be found.I even visited samsung semiconductor website but they havent got any info of it(perhaps with different name),,,I only got soooo many sites for ordering this chip.
