Hello¡ this is Cubiuntu mod of ubuntu linaro for Cubieboard V2 and V3
See the kind of install under the link.
Instrutions and cool stuff here:

VERSION 1.001
NAND POWNER EDITION

Changelog (not complete).

Passwords:
linaro/linaro
root/root
X11vnc server pass cubieboard port 5900

0 You can flash cubiuntu on nand with just one click   8) 8) 8) 8) 8) :
menu-->cubietweaks-->On-Line tweaks-->cubiuntu flasher.
Becareful, as every cb version has to have its own flasher, for making it a just one step proccess. It takes a while, but it is totally newby friendly (and if you are veteran it'll save you time too).
For now, the most difficult version (cubietruck) is done.
In a couple of days I hope to finish CB2 and my dear CB1 version.
The nand version available is CT cubiuntu 1.001 (a couple of tweaks missing though), adapted for nand environment.
You can transfer cubiuntu 1.001 sdcard to nand (ct version) with the tweak for that after the flashing from cubietweaks, but the cubietweaks from sdcard version uboot related wont work in the nand evironment. I can't explain myself better, sorry.

1 Added 1024x768 vga screen in cubietweaks.

2 Much better chromium.

3 Fixed a bunch of errors reported by the comunity.

4 Task bar indicator for cpu usage and for tunning volume.

5 Still easier connection to internet.

6 You should not have problems for playing -almost- any vids. >5GB mkv files (ac3 sound) and dts2 files or whatever they are called is the limit. Of course, in a 1080p desktop.

7 Cool wallpaper

VERSION 1.0
AY MACARENA EDITION

Changelog (not complete).

Passwords:
linaro/linaro
root/root

- For "fast" internet connection:
If you are using wireless, just edit NManager (right-up connection).
If you are using network, it is better to delete line in /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart (available in cubietweaks config) that refers to nm-applet.
Then edit /etc/network/interfaces line (available in cubietweaks config too) and uncomment lines refering to auto auto eth0 and to eth0 dhcp.
Then reboot.

-When you can do sudo-apt-get install axel and then launch cubiuntu-updater on cubietweaks for stupid cubinetboot error of mine. Sorry

-Really fast booting. 25 seconds?

- VLC with GUI (experimental and unstable  :-\) Good news are that you still have your old VLC with standard libs and that you can have your space back by:

Code: [Select]
sudo rm -r /home/linaro/CUBILOAD/PROGRAMS/vlc

New VLC icon is under old one.
I opened this topic for development (?)
http://www.cubieforums.com/index.php?topic=2344.msg14988#msg14988

-Fully working Network manager in task bar.

-Added edition of sources.list in cubietweaks.

-Sometimes if you do not plug the hdmi before turn on the cubie, you may lose the audio(it occurred once to me after hundreds of reboots). Just reboot.

-Do not forget resizing as soon as posible. The few megas left after having instaled cedarxed vlc is just for testing that everything went fine. If you reach 100% of sdcard storage you only be able to connect to root session.

-Added dummy txt in boot partition telling the version.

-Added in -->menu--preferences-->Gnome-Center the solution for timezones bug and global volume, as well as sound card selection.

-For 1024x768 CUBIETRUCK VGA video output:

-Others  ;)

I'll try to port to Qbee-X the best of this image in this week, too much work as always.

I'll try to answer questions and link to other threads as the image is kind of complex and this format is not the best one for explain them.

Enjoy it.

VERSION 0.777
CUBIETWEAKS EDITION

If you want to know what CubieTweaks is and how funny it is, download the .img, too much work for explain myself.

0. No overclocked edition. CubiTweak button for that.
1. At least, kernel 3.4.79 with MALI drivers working:
2. HDMI audio activated. I do not even know if that means anything...
3. Passwords:
X11VNC: cubieboard
SSH: root/root or linaro/linaro
If you can't log maybe you are next to 0% empty space, resize the .img please
LXDM greeter (off by default) linaro/linaro or root/root
4. Ip static: 192.168.1.155
5. FBturbo (thanks ssvb).
6. Youtube 480p videos via Smtube-VLC.
7. For 1080p mp4 videos use Smplayer, but only if your screen resolution is 720p In 1080p resolution screen is slow for now. Now you can't try Sintel trailer in Videos folder, but Captain America stuff (legal stuff).
Added a trailer in 1080p for you to test. It is in video folder. Forget about politics,it is Captain America cause it was the first I found. I do not like Sindel trailer anymore, sooooooo tired of watching it, not to mention the odd film before that one.
8. VLC GUI (framebuffer) for 720p videos
9. NOT ANYMORE VLC command line.
10. You can now perform tests with CubieTweaks buttons.
11. No leds (sorry, annoies me). I edited script.bin for that. You can edit from CubiTweaks, now is indecently easy  8) .
12. Have I tell you something about CubieTweaks? now it does resolution and postion screen things too.
13. Shutter,  and transparent window terminal on. And it is everywhere.
14. Libpixman updated (better late than never), in fact I've upgraded with a command kind of sudo apt-get upgrade. Then a hell of misconfigurations, almost all of them fixed. Remember to switch to sunxidmi in smplayer GUI-->preferences-->audio. Sorry Patrick, it has not worked your solution for me, but it is all ready for add the spark to fix it.
15. History command line kept, so you can laugh and cry at me. 16. 4 GB sdcard needed.
17. I've done things with Gimp. Laugh at them, cause it is the new wallpaper.
18. RAMLOG activated and working.

MD5SUM: same as in the name, ain't I clever? LOOOL

Nelson Mandela explained Ubuntu as follows:

Quote
A traveller through a country would stop at a village and he didn't have to ask for food or for water. Once he stops, the people give him food and attend him. That is one aspect of Ubuntu, but it will have various aspects. Ubuntu does not mean that people should not enrich themselves. The question therefore is: Are you going to do so in order to enable the community around you to be able to improve?

Is it possible to install the sanxi-tools and edit the script.bin to put 720p or 1080p?

The only thing that I haven't been able to figure out here is how to change the keyboard layout. I'm Spanish and I've managed to change the whole interface language but not the keyboard which is weird. I've tried lxkey or something like that and it doesn't do anything, among other programs on the system tools.

Any change on someone giving me a tip on how to change the keyboard layout to Spanish (from Spain).

Try
Code: [Select]
dpkg-reconfigure locales
Or at the login screen the label of the bottom.

I'm Spanish too ;)

I've been testing the img, and I find some bugs, if anyone can help me correct them, it would be nice:

1º Error when flashing by dd command. x blocks written + 1 (in my short experience, thats bad) I did:

first try:
Code: [Select]
dd if='/home/ikeeki/Escritorio/cubiuntu-0.5-A20.img'   of=/dev/sdb bs=1k
second try:
Code: [Select]
dd if='/home/ikeeki/Escritorio/cubiuntu-0.5-A20.img'   of=/dev/sdb bs=512
third try:
Code: [Select]
dd if='/home/ikeeki/Escritorio/cubiuntu-0.5-A20.img'   of=/dev/sdb bs=1M

2º Can't open synaptic, I've reinstalled it, no luck, core dumped.
Solution: just sudo synaptic, in previous version once you typed sudo that was automatic, I suppose I'm making some mistake when login as root, sudo su or su root take you to root folder, but you are linaro user.
For turning off the pass is linaro, not root.

3º Graphic errors (little ants, and half screen coloured when into a folder)
Solution
Waiting for mali drivers.

Try
Code: [Select]
dpkg-reconfigure locales
Or at the login screen the label of the bottom.

I'm Spanish too ;)

I tried that and the only message I get is that they are all up to date. The interface is in Spanish, all is in Spanish but the damn keyboard :(

One way:

Code: [Select]
dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

Another one:

Code: [Select]
sudo leafpad /etc/default/keyboard
line

Code: [Select]
XKBLYOUT='us'
change us by es

and

Code: [Select]
sudo leafpad /usr/share/console-setup/keyboard
Code: [Select]
XKBLYOUT=us,dvorak
change us by es too.

Code: [Select]
sudo reboot

Done.

Fast boot (60 seconds of waiting interfaces are too much, let's say a couple of seconds)

Method 1 (Patwood's choice)

in /etc/network/interfaces, set eth0 to allow-hotplug instead of auto:

Code: [Select]
allow-hotplug eth0
Code: [Select]
iface eth0 inet dhcp
Method 2 (worse)

Type:

Code: [Select]
sudo leafpad /etc/init/failsafe.conf

CHANGE

Code: [Select]
$PLYMOUTH message --text="Waiting up to 60 more seconds for network configuration..." || :
        sleep 59

BY

Code: [Select]
$PLYMOUTH message --text="Waiting up to 2 more seconds for network configuration..." || :
        sleep 2

Thanks man but by searching I found that I could reconfigure it using:

dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

It brings a nice assistant and got it all sorted out.

Now the only thing remaining is being able to put 1080p@60hz and seeing the underbar.

Thanks a lot anyway!

Delete or comment this line:

Code: [Select]
ifup eth0

in this file

Code: [Select]
/etc/network/interfaces

Create a file called

Code: [Select]
ifup_eth0.sh
with this text:

Code: [Select]
ifup eth0

here

Code: [Select]
/etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/

and type

Code: [Select]
sudo chmod 777 /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/ifup_eth0.sh

Then add this line

Code: [Select]
@/etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/ifup_eth0.sh

here:

Code: [Select]
/etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart

and reboot.

I've tried that already but with mode = 3 (for hdmi) and although everything loads fine in 1080p when it comes to the desktop I can't see the taskbar.

look for an option that disables "overscan," or sets the display ratio to 16/9. on tv, of course
