Hello,
I'm tinking of making a sort of smart-tv of my old CRT tv by using a Cubieboard. This tv has only RCA, scart and S-video input. Is it possible to connect the Cubieboard with my tv, and have a good quality (maybe by combinate the different options of scart or something?), and is it easy to do? Also would i like to know if a IDE to SATA convertor (for my dvd player) will work with the cubieboard.

Also would i like to know how to make this connection when it is possible.

You can connect by scart using the composite vĂdeo (cvbs) another option would be through scart RGB signals but for that you need a composite sync and cubie only provides V-sync and H-sync signals separated used for vga.
It should be possible to generate these signals directly in the cubie but it would be necessary to rebuild the kernel with that video modes included.

Thanks for your post, do you have also a schematic to make the Hsync and Vsync for scart sync? I have once tried to make a cable from vga to scart, but that one gave 3 times the screen next to each other, so it didn't work.

Can i also connect directly the cubie to the composite video, before first start-up, because i don't have a tv or screen wich accept hdmi.

I never tried but without the modified libraries with the correct timings for tv you probably get the same result as with your vga to scart cable.
You can try some of this schematics:

Most android roms switch to cvbs port when there are a tv connected to it, even before first start-up.

thanks. I will try to make it. Maybe first an old pc. I haven't a Cubieboard yet, but maybe order one. If anyone has a (working) schematic for connecting the cubie with scart, i would like to hear it.

This topic isn't relevant for me anymore, I have chosen for the RPi, cause the cost and the choose of different OS etc. Still thanks for the help I've gotten here.
