New board just arrived - having some ssues

I just received my board - Cubieboard 4 but I am running into two issues. 

One issue is that every time my device boots, off the micro SD, the device hangs and the power turns off.  The only way to get it to work again is to unplug and plug it back in. 

Next, when the kernel is starting up, I see logs indicating that 4 cores are not booting? Is this a common issue?  Is it a problem? 

Here is the snippet from from the boot logs.

I don't have one of these but you should try with another distro and if possible write it to emmc.
Also you should check the power source, it says here you need a 5V 4A PS:
