How to emulate the cubieboard?

Hi,

i'm trying to get qemu running my own rootfs. I know it works on a real cubieboard, but for test purposes i want to virtualize it. So i've built a kernel and tried to boot it via
qemu-system-arm -M versatilepb -m 1024 -kernel zImage -append "root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 earlyprintk=ttyS0" -sd image.bin -serial stdio
Of course, the zImage was configured with "versatilepb_defconfig" and earlyprintk was built into the kernel.
I get only a blank screen and the output of earlyprintk looks relatively ok (no errors or panic etc.).
So: how do you virtualize the CB? Or is there a good guide how to get it running?

Regards,
Michael
Sorry for my bad english.
