Yes, Mali OpenGL ES acceleration is used here, but only for the Qt5 demo (the fog effect, bouncy translucent panels, etc.) because it is using 3D hardware´╗┐ and shaders.
However the traditional Linux desktop (Xterm windows, etc.) normally needs 2D graphics and Mali does not (and can't) provide acceleration for it. The 2D graphics in this particular demo (when Xterm windows are moved around) is handled in software, using ARM NEON optimizations.

Is it really that Mali is not very useful with ubuntu desktop graphics?  :o
