@Sam.Smith: Danke ;)

@Mifritscher:

Update: Ist mir wirklich durchgerutscht ...

Sorry for writing in English but i can't write German. I use google translate to read the posts.
Just want to say that I use the kernel that you are building with Qbee-X image and I am really happy with it.
Thank you and keep up the good work.
PS: I will try the Kernel 3.4.105 with the updated Mali support this weekend

Sorry for English too :)
Why you don't use 3.4 from sunxi git ?

Why you don't use 3.4 from sunxi git ?

Well, the 3.4 on sunxi git has not been up to date for a long time. When D_NRW started his work, there were releases for the .91, .92,.... and sunxi git was remaining at .90 .
D_NRWs seems as the most updated to me.

Ok, I see that sunxi has updated their kernel to .103. But you see that they are still behind.
They might have their reasons for sure...  ::)

Cheers

Hi, I gave a try to the 3.4.105 kernel. Works like a charm. Except with xbmc (kodi).
I get this error:
Code: [Select]
The UMP devicedriver is version: 3, UMP libraries is version: 2.
UMP: ump_arch_open() failed to open UMP device driver
ERROR: Unable to create GUI. Exiting
Segmentation fault
Maybe these posts provide some help:

Lampra:
Yes adding these drivers needs to be done when using Mali R4P0.  It looks like I will have to revert back to R3 with my kernel, as I haven't seen anymore using R4P0 since I have updated the Kernel.

I updated it as I got the requests of updating the Mali Drivers. Now everybody needs to update their Linux Installation with new Mali-Binaries and updated libUMP.

Cheers,

Daniel

Hello. Sorry for spamming in English.

The new r4p0 and r5p0 kernel driver for Mali400 doesn't need binary ump library. Older versions need this binary blob. But for us the problem may persist with binary EGL user-land libraries. I don't found them in sources from ARM, and don't know if old libs will work (cannot complete crosscompilation of new driver outside sunxi sources).

Hi.

I downloaded Dans kernel 3.4.105 via:
git clone --branch dan-3.4.105 https://github.com/dan-and/linux-sunxi.git

I did compile it on a Banana Pi which also uses an Allwinner A20 SoC.

Apart from a different download/git soure, i used this howto:
http://forum.lemaker.org/thread-2657-1-1-.html

Compilerflags i used were:
"-O -march=native -pipe"

The kernel did compile (with some warnings), and the kernel does boot.
so far, so good.

but: i need XFS file system support to mount some older Linux XFS partitions on an old USB drive.

therefor i configured my kernel to support XFS.
the modules did compile, but loading them throws errors.

modinfo shows:
modinfo  /lib/modules/3.4.105+/kernel/fs/xfs/xfs.ko
filename:       /lib/modules/3.4.105+/kernel/fs/xfs/xfs.ko

depends:
intree:         Y
vermagic:       3.4.105sr+ SMP preempt mod_unload modversions ARMv7 p2v8

insmod throws this error:
insmod /lib/modules/3.4.105sr+/kernel/fs/xfs/xfs.ko
Error: could not insert module /lib/modules/3.4.105sr+/kernel/fs/xfs/xfs.ko: Unknown symbol in module

syslog shows:
Jan 12 19:36:49 bananapi kernel: [ 2150.171296] xfs: Unknown symbol __pcpu_unique_xfsstats (err 0)
Jan 12 19:36:49 bananapi kernel: [ 2150.182208] xfs: Unknown symbol __pcpu_scope_xfsstats (err 0)
Jan 12 19:42:46 bananapi kernel: [ 2507.400439] xfs: Unknown symbol __pcpu_unique_xfsstats (err 0)
Jan 12 19:42:46 bananapi kernel: [ 2507.411349] xfs: Unknown symbol __pcpu_scope_xfsstats (err 0)

What is the reason for this error?
I am no C programmer.
Can i fix it?

Many thx in advance

Do not change compiler flags when building kernel. How do You build additional module?

Thx for the reply.
I always used -0 or -02, for more than 10 years now.
march=native cannot be harmful, as wall as -pipe cannot be. afaik.
But i will try later without the -0 optimization option.

I did not build just the XFS module but i built the whole kernel (because i needed some other additional features like ReiserFs). the base for my custom kernel was /pro/config.gz.
as i wrote: i (mainly) did what was written here:   http://forum.lemaker.org/thread-2657-1-1-howto_build_and_install_a_modified_linux_kernel_directly_on_bananian.html

Bananian is a Debian wheezy, like cubian.

by the way: i am german. if one prefers me to write in german, just tell me  8)

Guys,

I have updated my kernel again to 3.4.107.
I finally removed the Mali R4P0 support again, as I only got complains and not one user who was really using Mali R4P0. So if you had problems in 105-106, that beast is removed again.

There are also additional fixes added (Wifi, Bluetooth, A20 TempSensor, I2C)

As usual: http://www.danand.de/

Cheers,

Daniel
