Android with XBMC = Very slow playing video

Hi all,

I recently installed the img of android that comes with XBMC. All the installation went perfect (through LiveSuit) and android boots correctly.

Then I tried XBMC. I have a computer with samba sharing video content. All the network is a Gigabit network.
When I play a HD mkv video (no matter if 1080 or 720) I see the video playing very very slow, and very rough.

Same configuration (XBMC playing video over samba) with Raspberry goes perfectly smooth.

Is there any thing that I need to do to see the videoclips playing smooth?

Thank you!

I think (because I,ve read it) that the current situation is that is not possible, but there are devs who are doing their best right now to make that possible.
Is 720 p running slow too?

Yes 720p are slow as well. And you're right, now is not possible and dev are working on it. I'll try ubuntu with self compile xbmc! ;)

I have lubuntu running with the latest mali400 drivers (sunxi-linux). I have compiled XMBC for lubuntu and even with all that the 720p is sluggish and 1080p is terrible. Stil waiting for the limadriver initiative!

Video accelerated playback needs the CedarX libraries.

Unless you are using a build which uses those, you won't get acceleration.  Even with that, only certain files can benefit from hardware acceleration - only the ones the library supports.

lawrence have reason!

I tested VLC player without CedarX and with CedarX. The difference is huge!!!  It seems that is running on the PC ;D

You can find instructions here, if you want test VLC:
