Cubietruck - ssh using USB
« on: May 05, 2014, 01:34:35 am »
Okay, so I am new to this forum and to CubieTruck, I just started experimenting with it. So far I was able to connect to my Cubie in the following ways :

  • Connecting it to wifi
  • Using a LAN cable

Now the thing is that I really don't want an internet connection on my CBT, I just want to send commands to it. I was wondering if this could be done using USB.

So, I assumed the config should be same as rpi and followed this guide http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=18916

I modified my interfaces file by adding :
auto usb0
iface usb0 inet static
address 10.0.0.254
netmask 255.0.0.0
network 10.0.0.0
broadcast 10.255.255.255

I also tried loading the usbnet module on startup and restarting,
but the ifconfig -a doesn't show usb0 interface.

Here is another guide http://www.linux-usb.org/usbnet/

Is there some other module which needs to be loaded, or some other cable needed or some other settings ?

Perhaps it is a driver issue, or you should try with a different IP configuration in a similar way as the instructions for Raspberry Pi...
