I have been searching for a solution for several days and no joy, someone posted the same problem on mele's forum and got no answer. I don't know elsewhere to turn to, but given m5 has the basically same hardware as cubieboard2, I thought maybe someone here can shed some lights on it. I've been tried several prebuilt kernels which are all from the patrickwood's source I think, I also compiled a few kernels using the different branches. However they all acted the same. The ethernet lights only blink several seconds at boot, then go out forever. I checked the kernel log and output form UART and found nothing useful. I am completely lost now. Hopefully someone can point me into the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Does the M5 specs say 100BaseT or GB ethernet?

Hi, patwood, thank you for your attention. It's 10/100m ethernet and it uses rtl8201pc PHYceiver just like cb2 did.
