Is there an image i can install to the sd card that will boot straight into a desktop?  I use a raspberry pi and want to learn the cubie but the learning curve seems very steep.

Of course, you can flash a sd card with almost any image available here:
http://www.cubieforums.com/index.php
and you will boot into a desktop.
If the login screen appears , for example in cubiuntu 6.0 or higher, just edit /etc/lxdm/default.conf and uncoment autologin=linaro

hi celica: You probably want to do the same what I did. I tried to install Openbox on to the CLI sd card system CT_Wheezy.EN.img
I managed it that I can start the mini GUI but I have not found out how to pass the CLI and go directly into Openbox. It is a common Linux task, but I am not a pro. I assume that this problem is shared by many CB/CT users but I have not found the right place yet where to look for answers.
If you found something - please let me know
