Can I connect a bluetooth keyboard to Cubieboard?
« on: February 20, 2013, 09:30:36 am »
Hi

I just got a Cubieboard and I have a  FAVI Bluetooth PC / Tablet Keyboard. It comes with a bluetooth receiver. How can I use it with Cubie? is it possible?

Raspberry-Pi forums indicates BlueZ linux protocol suite for similar need.
If the same is needed what kind of steps do i need to take to make bluetooth keyboard work

Thanks in advance
Anil

First, it depends on whether the bluetooth modules are in the kernel you are using.  I had to use the images provided by Roman.ru for Debian.

You need to install Bluetooth and bluez-utils (as a minimum requirement) once you have a working kernel with the bluetooth modules enabled.

Hope somebody else can advise (as I found it a real pain) to get bluetooth working

Thanks Castalla.
I have ubuntu linaro edition. I have installed Bluez utils and blueman.

Bluetooth manager pairs it and gives a message that device successfully added but nothing works.
hcitool scan shows the device id but hcitool dev does not show this favi device.

I tried restarting service  but nothing I tried working .

Any suggestions on what i can do next to figure this out?

Thanks

I've never used blueman - only the command line.

Use the terminal (via ssh ?) or a usb keyboard

First scan

Then bluez-simple-agent hci0 [device address] - when it connects enter the pairing code (probably 0000)

Then bluez-test-device trusted [device address] yes

Reboot

Hopefully it'll pick up the keyboard.

Beyond that I've no idea because I used bluetooth to connect a headset.

Thank you Castalla!
Will try tonight after work and post the results.
I saw your bluetooth thread on the forum.I will also look into it.

Where can I find the Roman.ru 's images ?

2 useful links:

http://romanrm.ru/en/a10/debian

http://romanrm.ru/en/a10/kernel

I forgot:  a useful bluez command if you get a mess-up is:

bluez-test-device remove [device address]
