How do I install a login screen such as lightdm instead of autologin

I think that's what you want
sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
Delete or comment (#)
autologin-user=USER
autologin-user-timeout=0

slovenia, I've seen that you added your own repo in source.list for an auto upgrade of the kernel. Are your packages signed and your key already added?

Thanks

slovenia

Yes, packages are signed and key is added in the last build.

Manual:

Key:
apt-key adv --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 0x93D6889F9F0E78D5

deb http://apt.armbian.com wheezy main
or
deb http://apt.armbian.com jessie main
or
deb http://apt.armbian.com trusty main

Wizard for removing old kernel(s) and installing new:

Hi Igor!

Set up server "Cubietruck_Debian_4.1_wheezy_3.4.108"- work great! Thanks!

A small clarification about cubietruck (documentation armbian confusing):

- Switching to the VGA had done in 3 areas: script.bin (disp/boot section) and boot.scr (with recompile .scr).

- Will be able to comment on the line in /etc/bash.bashrc.custom ?

export TERM=linux

This causes a non-functional keys F3 / F4 (etc?) in the a remote ssh session in the Midnight Commander. Expected $TERM = xterm
I had to search long for the decision, and then disabled it in the specified file.
I would like to hear your opinion.  ;)

Thanks!

I am releasing v4.3 today if everything goes o.k.  ;) ... where

export TERM=linux

is fixed / removed

Thanks for the note. Will be updated asap.

Hi @ all,

I tried to set up a Cubietruck with this (Debian_4.2_Wheezy_3.4-108) image today, but it failed due to my unsupported Monitor solution (1280 / 1024 - Dell 1907). After a short - right - display the monitor tells something like "unsupported solution" and I can see all information on the left side of the screen in Micky Mouse format = 5 cm wide.

An older version (Debian_3.2_Wheezy_3.4-105) of this image, that I had for another Cubietruck, works fine.
Will say: the "unsupported solution" is shown in the beginning too, but then the installation continues with a correct screen.

This happens on vga and hdmi.

Any idea to solve this problem is welcome

best
Klaus

I tried to set up a cubietruck with this debian 4.2 .wheezy.108 image, but it fails due to my unsupported monitor solution 1280x1024. an older version 3.2-wh-3.4-105 works.

All text is only 5cm wide. what can I do?

I write it again because error  "message too long"???

You need to update boot loader too.

apt-get install linux-u-boot-cubietruck-next

Hi!

2 slovenia:

Igor, I found the solution of the normal startup Ram-log daemon with samba.D (etc),
Starting ramlog-tmpfs 2.0.0: Error: /var/log is in use... [fail]
The list of open files: (You need to close below daemons if you want to start/stop ramlog manually)

COMMAND  PID USER   FD   TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF   NODE NAME
nmbd    2003 root    2w   REG  179,1      135 128846 /var/log/samba/log.nmbd
nmbd    2003 root    4w   REG  179,1      135 128846 /var/log/samba/log.nmbd

here:

depending on this I have two questions:

1. Why does the the version Debian_3.2_Wheezy_3.4-105 work "out of the box" and why do the newer versions not?
2. If I want to change the VGA resolution before setup - how to do? As absolute Linux newbie the answer 1160 is for me a bit "mystic". Where is a good explanation in the web I can read about this?

I think it maybe a good step forward if I set up a computer with a Linux OS to have a basis to work.

But - by the hell - which Linux shall I take??????
