I guess I must be doing a very obvious error but I can't seem to fix it.

The script was left non executable because it is not well designed / it is intended for expert use. It's basic and does not show all errors if occur.

But it's operational. Do:

Code: [Select]
chmod +x nand-install.sh
Run it again and follow instructions. Your NAND will be erased in this process. Usually there is some Android pre-installed or it is just empty.

If it won't boot after install, there is a workaround described in first post.

Hello Slovenia, I'm developing a flasher and I'd like to add your images to it, as I find them interesting, you do not mind, do you?  :)

Wheezy server for SD, SATA or NAND with hotspot - update 27.2.2014 -II
« Reply #262 on: March 09, 2014, 02:32:06 pm »
Hi,

I tried for longtime to tweak  the network to reach the internet: set the address of the nameserver in resolv.conf to the address of my router, changed the settings in interfaces to static (address, gateway, nameserver).

Still does not work  for the net, but for the home net I can ping back and forth successfully!

What did I forget to change ?

Please advise quick!

Many thanks in advance!

Regards, Ireng

It would be helpful if you post the change / content of:

/etc/network/interfaces
/etc/resolv.conf

It would be helpful if you post the change / content of:

/etc/network/interfaces
/etc/resolv.conf

Also the output of

Code: [Select]
route -n
would be interresting ... it could be a missing default route as connections to your home network are fine.

Do you ping with a dns (for example google.com) to internet?
Do you ping with dns in your home network ? Or do you use ip adress (for example 192.168.1.20)?

It could be a configuration problem with your router or firewall.

Many thanks @slovenia for a great system.

I will have my Cubietruck remote from my wired router so I want it on wireless. After a learning curve getting my wifi working I just wanted to pass on a tip for configuring wifi.

After installing, the /etc/network/interfaces has the wifi (wlan0) section commented out:
Code: [Select]
#auto wlan0
#allow-hotplug wlan0
#iface wlan0 inet dhcp
#    wpa-ssid SSID
#    wpa-psk
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You can uncomment this section by removing the # marks. This file is world readable,  if you would like to hide your SID & password you can move your definition to another file, and make this file only readable by root. I chose to call this file /etc/network/wlan0.conf, it contains
Code: [Select]
network={
ssid="MySSIDsName"
proto=WPA RSN
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
pairwise=TKIP CCMP
group=TKIP CCMP
psk=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
}
The psk could be plain text password in quotes "Xxxxx" or the output of wpa_passphrase. Once you've created the file as root, use "chmod 600 filename" to change its access rights to Owner read-write, others no access.

The wlan section of my network/interfaces file then became
Code: [Select]
auto wlan0
allow-hotplug wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
    wpa-conf /etc/network/wlan0.conf

Wheezy server for SD, SATA or NAND with hotspot - update 27.2.2014 -III
« Reply #267 on: March 10, 2014, 04:23:59 am »
@slovenia Many thanks for a great system from me as well!

I can ping dns and IP from my desktop system (UBUNTU 13.04) to the net without any problems!

resolv.conf contains the IP address of my router,

the content of /etc/network/interfaces I will post later today.

Another obstacle is, that i can't connect to ssh, since the root password will be rejected during authentication.

regards, Ireng

Update: after reboot, everything works fine!  Only german keyboard after dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration still not present!

Update2: in the first column of resolv.conf was a blank character. After I removed the blank chracter everythin worked fine.

Cubietruck here.
Downloaded, installed your distro. Due to lack of wiring, running it over wifi. The adapter sporadically disconnects and reconnects on its own. Used wpa_supplicant to connect.
Also noticed some strange "eth0: connected 10M/H" in syslog. There's no cable plugged!

Tried Fedora 20 before: stable, but I can't boot with custom kernel. Now am trying yours.

Another obstacle is, that i can't connect to ssh, since the root password will be rejected during authentication.

I know you have now resolved this, but since updating to v 1.7 I haven't been able to SSH in. Worked fine with v1.6. Now router no longer registers Cubie is on the network.

Not sure if it's something I am doing wrong of if any network settings are amended on the latest version.
