I'm trying to build Kitkat but finding the lack of documentation frustrating.

The hardware is Cubieboard A10 btw. I've successfully built OpenBox ICS (4.0) and Jellybean (4.1) from https://github.com/cubieboard/manifests with no SATA and LAN support unfortunately as the Jellybean README says.

Drivers aside, I found another repo by jekstrand with a manifest for Jellybean (4.2) and forked it to add a Kitkat manifest.

https://github.com/tistaharahap/cubieboard-android/tree/cb

All the ROMs except for the OpenBox ROM are based on CyanogenMod. I had a lot of success compiling CM with other devices but still failing to do so with Cubieboard.

So if there are any docs you can help me with, I'll be more than willing to research deeper into Kitkat.

No documentation available not only for Allwinner SDK but also for Android itself. Be prepared to port the following Allwinner code to your source tree:

  • Allwinner changes to TvdSettings (Ethernet setup, SATA setup, storage usage calculations/mounts, touchscreen calibration, etc).

  • Allwinner changes to libinput.so - personally I found them buggy and pointless, removed all from my sourcetree

  • Allwinner changes to media framework - CedarX/CedarA driver, CEDARX_PLAYER/CEDARA_PLAYER, etc. You'll need this stuff to get hardware accelerated video/audio playback. In A20 SDK CEDARX_PLAYER still plays video without sound, this must be fixed by somebody...

  • Possibly more stuffI'm not aware of...

This is a lot of work. Good luck anyway...

Would a ROM for an Acer A500 Tablet help in any way. I have one that has been made by Thor from Tegra forums. You can find his work on this forum. I don't know if this will help at all but thought it was worth mentioning.
